“Studio ZZZAP is an artistic immersive studio. Driven by curiosity for technology, humans and glitches in reality.”
ABOUT Studio zzzap
Studio ZZZAP is an immersive art studio based in Utrecht, founded and led by Nienke Huitenga Broeren. With a fascination for the ways interactive technology challenges our sense of presence in art and sharpens our understanding of being human, the studio creates productions that stand out through narrative depth and inventive forms of experience. Studio ZZZAP playfully yet sincerely explores our humanity in contrast with, and through the lens of, technology.
The studio is known for the generative open-world podcast DRIFT (2024), nominated for a Gouden Kalf this year; the collective consensus debate experience WINWIN (2021); and the literary non-fiction VR story ROZSYPNE (2019), created in collaboration with Lisa Weeda. Most recently, under Huitenga Broeren’s signature, the VR documentary LACUNA (2025) premiered — co-directed with Maartje Wegdam — in the immersive competition at Cannes 2025.
Studio ZZZAP works across disciplines and with a strong focus on audiences.
