Studio ZZZAP makes immersive experiences about what it feels like to be a person right now.

That means: a future Netherlands flooded and blooming, 500 years from now (DRIFT, 2024). An old woman in an Eastern Ukrainian warzone, with the wreckage of MH17 outside her window (ROZSYPNE, 2019). An apartment where someone used to live, and her friends build stories about their grief for their sudden loss (in production).

We are interested in the moments where technology and human experience don't quite line up — where the seams show, where the algorithm meets the grief, where a headset places you somewhere you could never otherwise stand. Those gaps are where we work. To encounter yourself.

Studio ZZZAP was founded in 2017 and is based in Utrecht. Our productions have premiered at IDFA DocLab, Sheffield DocFest, and have been in competition for the Gouden Kalf at the Netherlands FIlm Festival.

We are driven by curiosity for technology, humans and glitches in reality.
